The Answer Key:
Sl No. Question Answer Remark 1 A piezoelectric force transducer has a charge sensitivity of 20 pC/N. It is connected to a charge amplifier and overall gain of transducer and amplifier is 50 mV/N. The gain of amplifier is 2.5mV/pC The gain of the amplifier will always with volt signal at numerator and input signal at the denominator 2 Pitot tube uses the principle of Bernoulli’s Theorem It uses the principle of Bernoulli’s theorem which states that the stagnant pressure is equal to the static pressure plus dynamic pressure. Dynamic pressure arises due to fluid flow. These tubes are widely used for measurement of speed of air flow in air craft, helicopter, boats etc. This is named after the name of French inventor in 18th century named Henry Pitot. 3 Chronometer is a device to measure very light weights A mechanical chronometer is a spring-driven gear mechanism to convert the rotation into hours, minutes and seconds. 4 What happens to the density of air with increase in humidity? decreases It decreases as the Nitrogen molecules is replaced with Hydrogen and net molecular weight reduces for the same volume 5 Kelvin bridge is uses null galvanometer method for the measurement of Resistance Kelvin bridge is a modified Wheatstone bridge to measure resistance more accurately and in wide range. 6 Magnetic flux is measured using the principle effect given by Hall Flow of electric charge changes its direction due to the presence of electric field and produces voltage signal on the opposite phase. 7 Dummy strain gauge is used along with measuring strain gauge to to compensate for the change caused by temperature variation A dummy gauge, identical to the active strain gauge, is installed in an unstrained sample of the same material as the test specimen. The sample with the dummy gauge is placed in thermal contact with the test specimen, adjacent to the active gauge. The dummy gauge is wired into a Wheatstone bridge on an adjacent arm to the active gauge so that the temperature effects on the active and dummy gauges cancel each other 8 DPT is used for the testing to find out hair or surface cracks DPT is dye penetration test to make the hair cracks visible. A penetrate solution is applied to the surface with low viscosity which penetrates into the hair crack. After settling time, developer is applied and the crack emerges out. 9 Hydrometer works on the principle of vibration is sent and resonant frequency is found out which is dependent on the density of liquid -
