The Answer Key:
Sr No Question Answer Remarks 1 The numeral system followed world over is called Hindu-Arabic Numeral Indian Numeral is what is followed in Hindi, Roman is the way we write Class standard like X, XII etc. and Greek is alpha, beta, gamma etc. The standardized system followed word over is 1,2,3 etc. and called Hindu-Arabic numeral system. 2 Find the least number which when divided by 6,7,8,9 and 12 leaves the same remainder in each case. 505 The formula applicable here is that Least number which when divided by x,y,z and leaves a remainder R in each case = ( LCM of x,y,z) + R; Here LCM of these five number is 504 therefore the number is 504+1=505 3 The infinite number of triangles formed by shifting point R to any location on the dotted line will have same area Area is half the produce of base and height. Here base and height remains constant, therefore area remains constant. 4 The maximum area of maximum 4 side figure which can be inscribed in a circle is always of square 5 The odometer of a car was showing Km reading of 1372 Km and average liter consumption of 14 Km/lit. After travel of 38 Km the average reading changed to 14.1 Km/lit. What is the average consumption for 38 Km run? 20 Let the average consumption for 38 Km run is x Km/lit than the oil consumption will be (38/x). The oil consumption for 1372 Km is (1372/14) and 1410 lit is (1410/14.1) and solving this we get x=20 Km/lt. 6 A sum of Rs. 427 is to be divided among A, B and C such that 3 times A’s share, 4 tunes B’s share and 7 times C’s share are all equal. The share of B is : 147 Let us write an equation as 3A=4B=7C=x or A+B+C=427=x(1/3+1/4+1/7) and solving this we get x=7*84 or share of B is 7*84/4=147 7 A shopkeeper uses cylinderical measuring instrument for selling some liquid which has a diameter of 16 cm. He used a spherical punch of 17 cm to push the bottom surface inside. What will be the depth of penetration. 15 The figure clearly shows the method of calculation in which a right angle triangle is formed with base of 8 cm and hypotenous of 17 cm. The third dimension will be 15 cm and the difference of the two will give the penetration. 8 Orthocenter of a triangle is intersecting point of the perpendicular line drawn from each vertex 9 Which dimensions of the angles are not correct to draw a triangle? 55-45-35 All angles cannot be less then 60 degree 10 Ram and Shyam are for a morning walk. Ram is 200 m ahead of Shyam. By what percentage, Shyam should increased his speed to catch him after a distance of 800 meter. 33⅓% Let the speed of Ram and Shyam be u and v and travel a distance of D-100 and D in time t. Than ut=D-100 and vt=D and the speed of Shyam shall be u*D/(D-200) i.e. 800/600 or (4/3)u or 33⅓%. 11 Half of a herd of deer are grazing in the field and three fourths of the remaining are playing nearby. The rest 9 are drinking water from the pond. Find the number of deer in the herd. 72 Let the total number of deer are x, than we write the equation as ½*x+(½*¾ )x+9=x and solving this we get x=72. 12 If x = (√3 + 1)/(√3 -1) and y = (√3 – 1)/(√3 + 1) , then the value of (x² + y²) is: 14 Here x/y=1; y²(1+1) and find the value of y ² 13 You know that √5=2.236; find the value of (√5/2)-(10/√5)+√125 7.826 14 A can do a job in 16 days, B can do same job in 12 days. With the help of C they did the job in 4 days. C alone can do the same job in how many days ? 48/5 days Capacity of A=1/16, B=1/12 and combined with C=1/4. The capacity of C is = 1/4-1/16-1/12=5/48 or he will complete the job in 48/5 days 15 What is the compound interest on Rs. 10000/- at 8% interest in two years when compounded annually? 1664/- P₂=P₀(1+Int/100)ⁿ or 10000(1+8/100)²=10000(1.08)² or 10000*1.1664 or 11664/-. The interest amount is Rs. 1664/- 16 Which one is not a polyhedron? Cone Polyhedron is a sharp edges. Cone is having curved surface. 17 Express 5t in g 10⁶ 1t=1000 Kg; 1 Kg =1000gm 18 What shall be the value of X+Y for the number 21X93Y587 divisible by 9? 1 or 10 The sum of each digit shall be divisible by 9. Here you will get X+Y+35 and the sum of X+Y shall be either 1 or 10 19 Find the factors of 6xy – 4y + 6 – 9x (3x-2)(2y-3) 3x(2y-3)-2(2y-3) 20 In a building there are 24 cylindrical pillars. The radius of each pillar is 28 cm and height is 4 m. Find the total cost of painting the curved surface area of all pillars at the rate of Rs. 8 per m2. 1351.68 Radius of cylindrical pillar, r = 28 cm = 0.28 m
height, h = 4 m curved surface area of a cylinder = 2πrh
curved surface area of a pillar = 2 *22 *0.28* 4 /7 = 7.04 m2
curved surface area of 24 such pillar = 7.04 × 24 = 168.96 m2
cost of painting an area of 1 m2 = Rs. 8
Therefore, cost of painting 1689.6 m2 = 168.96 × 8 = Rs. 1351.68 -
