Prabhu plans regulatory body to bring railways back on track

The Indian railway minister, Mr. Suresh Prabhu is planning to set up an independent tariff and safety regulatory body to bring railways back on the track. He aims to end populism in the cash-strapped public transporter by delinking the fare and freight structure. The regulator is part of the government’s reform agenda and will provide the necessary scope to hike passenger fares based on the market conditions.
