MSRV to get Cheaper Dabhol power
October 07th, 2015, Times of India
Cheaper power is in store for the Mumbai Suburban Railway Network (MSRV), an initiative aimed to help make the loss-making venture a profitable one. Importantly, the railways have begun saving power because of the DC-AC conversion on the western and central lines. The monetary saving has been approximately Rs 120 crore annually.
The Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd (RGPPL), also popularly known as the Dabhol project, is slated to extend 500 MW of ‘cheap power’ to the railways from November 1st, and nearly half of the supply is likely to be used to operate the MSRV suburban network.
