Mr R.N. Lal

Shri R.N. Lal has passed out Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1973 and completed his Post Graduation in Control System in 1975 from the same institution. He stood first in graduation, post-graduation and All India U.P.S.C. Engineering Services Examination 1974. He joined Indian Railways in 1975.

He has a valuable experience of 36 years in Railways in the field of administration, maintenance and research & design of electric locomotive, electric multiple units, power supply and traction distribution system. He has spent 12 years in maintenance of the electric locomotive, traction distribution and 14 years in design development of advance technology for electric rolling stock while working in RDSO in different capacities.

While working in RDSO, he was able to publish three papers in International Magazine, viz., International Rail Gazette, International Rail Journal and Institution of Engineering and Technology, U.K. in the field of Porcelain Insulator, Reliability of electronics in propulsion equipment, High Rise Pantograph, Squirrel Cage Traction Motors.

He has visited many countries like, U.K., France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Japan, China, USA and Canada to study of advance technology in the field of rolling stock and electric traction system.

He has an administrative experience of working as an Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Kota and Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol for about 5 years.

He retired from Indian Railways in September 2011, as an Additional Member (Electrical) from Railway Board and is presently working as Adviser (Electrical) to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation since October 2011.
