Harda accident caused by excessive rainfall, Railway safety commissioner

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has conditionally confirmed the union minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu’s version of the Harda train accident cause, that it took place due to the natural calamity caused by excessive rainfall and flash floods. The accident, described as “freak” by the railway board officials, had resulted in the loss of 29 lives, in Madhya Pradesh in September.

The official statement says, “Due to overflow of this flood water, the track ballast and embankment started eroding and finally the rail embankment for nearly 270 meter including the approaches of the bridge was washed away”.
